A Protocol Has Been Signed Between Our University And Olam Progıda
A protocol has been signed between our university and Progıda Agricultural Products Industry and Trade Incorporated Company in order to contribute to the vocational education of our students who continue their education in the relevant educational units of our university and to contribute to the development of the people of the region through joint projects.
Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Tahsin Tonkaz and Prof. Dr. Niyazi Taşçı, Deputy General Secretary Assist Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sami Güler, Olam Program General Manager Hakan Karakaş, Global Sustainability Manager Burcu Türkay and Olam Program sustainability team attended the protocol signing ceremony held in the Senate Hall.
Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan stated, “It is very important for universities whose main task is research and education to cooperate with the industry which uses information in a practical way and transforms it into a product in order to make the information it generates useful for the society. In this context, we continue our progress towards becoming a new generation university by providing support to joint projects and research activities carried out on a local, regional, national and international basis. This cooperation that we have realized will not only contribute significantly to the professional development of our students, but also to the development of the people of the region, and as a result of the joint studies we will do in close relationship with Olam Progıda, hazelnut, the most important agricultural product of our region, will be more productive and processed. I hope that this protocol signed with these thoughts will be beneficial for our University and Olam Progıda.”
Hakan Karakaş, General Manager of Olam Progıda, stated, “Nut, besides being an important agricultural product for Ordu, has also a very important role in the agricultural export products for Turkey. As Olam Progıda, we want to add value to Turkish hazelnuts on sustainability that is one of our priority programs with the support of our academicians at our University, by cooperating with both the industry and the University. It is very important for us to get such an opportunity. This cooperation is significant for us to work together with our academicians and students to produce a common sense. This cooperation in which the industry and our farmers will have great gains in the long term is a promising collaboration, especially for our company and Ordu University, on behalf of Turkish hazelnuts on a global scale.”
