Our Rector Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç's Message for 19th May Commemoration of Ataturk Youth and Sports Day
May 19, 1919 is very important for Turkish Nation, because our nation's struggle for independence began with Samsun in Turkey under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that is one of the most important events in Turkish history.This date has also taken its place among the history pages as a crucial day for all over the world to declare its determination to defeat the luck of fortune with perseverance, faith and enthusiasm despite the all lacks and deprivations, against the assumptions that everything is over in the leadership of our national Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The nation has proved to the whole world that it will not be able to stand up to any strength when it combines perseverance and belief in the same goal by exhibiting a great and epic struggle for liberation that has taken many years in a period of total war, and has endowed the whole world with its tremendous victory. Our Republic, established with great sacrifices, entrusted to our young people; It is the most important duty of our youth to protect and glorify the independence legend which was raised on 19 May 1919. Our belief is that our young generations will bear on the level of contemporary civilizations, with the consciousness of the national unity that the young generation inherited from their ancestors, will protect the country from all kinds of betrayal and enmity, as it has been in the past and in the future.
with the first steps of the Republic of Turkey, the establishment of initiating the fighting independence and independence passion of the Turkish nation, the country's love, May 19 is the symbol of a free and independent life stability. I congratulate your 19 May,1919 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day's 99th anniversary with all sincerity. I am grateful and thankful to all our heroes, saint martyrs and veterans, especially Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of our Republic, and his gun friends, on this important day.
