ODU is Enriching Mine of Information
A presentation prepared by the Department of Library and Documentation about the advancement of library so far has been offered to the Rector, Prof Dr Tarık Yarılgaç.
The Rector, Prof Dr Tarık Yarılgaç, Secretary General, Docent Dr Mehmet Kenan Şahin, The head of the Department of Library and Documentation, Ali Aygün took part in the meeting.
The Rector was informed about the present structure of Emin Çetinceviz Library , Library collection, benefit-cost analysis of database of the year 2017, the targets of 2018 and the studies carried out in 2017.
At the meeting it was stated that there exists a 373 square meter space for daily publications, a 374 square meter digital library and a 52 square meter space for written works, a 88 square meter section for referance books and a 1.308 square meter books saloon are available. Totally 57.269 published and approximately 200 thousand electronics books have been offered to the users as well.
The Rector was also informed that in the library 21databases which contain 33.000 scientific journals are ready to serve the users. In addition, it was added that the number of the books collected through donation and collection has reached one hundred thousand.
At the meeting the participants also talked about the activities of 54th library week to be held between the dates 26 and 30 march.
The participants exchanged the ideas about improving of reading books among students, increasing of reading love and the events to be held during the week.
The Rector, prof Dr Tarık Yarılgaç pointed out that libraries are both components of social memory and a treasury in which scientific literature exists.
The Rector added that Ordu University has made a fast development in published and electronics network as a result of works carried out by the Department of Library and Documentation in 2017.
Unlike traditional libraries, Emin Çetinceviz Library has the latest modern and a variety of technological infrastructures facilities and will continue the works without stopping and also will both produce scientific knowledge and convey it across the world.
The Rector Prof Dr Tarık Yarılgaç hereby expressed his respectful thanks to the Çetinceviz family for donating the library in the framework of physical and technological facilities both in regional and national borders.
