56th Library Week Celebrated via Distant Access

56th Library Week organized by Ordu University Library and Documentation Department was celebrated via remote access.
Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, academic and administrative staff and students participated in the remote simultaneous book reading event held with participation from home and office due to Covid-19 outbreak.
Rector Akdoğan stated, “Due to the risk of Corona virus, which is experienced on a global scale, the education process of our university continues through distance education. Within the scope of the measures taken in this process, the activities organized at our University were interrupted.

For this reason, we held our Library Week event, which is celebrated regularly every year, simultaneously with the remote access with the participation of our academic and administrative staff and students. Libraries, which are the key for transferring information from generation to generation, are a driving force for cultural development. Embracing these cultural heritages that convey the deep history and knowledge of our nation from ages to the ages, I also believe that we should encourage our youth to be book-friendly, and congratulate 56th Library Week.

Distance Education Process Supported by “Digital Library” Services
After the interruption of formal education due to the epidemic and the transition to distance education, our University Emin Çetinceviz Central Library provides service with the access of “Remote Library”.
In this context, as a result of requests from academic units, 32 scientific databases were subscribed. Among the databases we subscribe to are foreign publishers that have proven themselves in their fields such as Cambridge University Press, Ebsco, Elsevier, IGI Global, Oxford University Press, Proquest, Sage and Springer. Subscriptions were also provided to major domestic publishers such as Ayeum, Hiperkitap, İdeal Online, Lebib Yalkın, Social Sciences Citation Index and Turcademy.
It was stated in the "Distance Library Services Guide" on the website of the Library and Documentation Department that the information to be done for remote access is included, as well as the distance education service was provided by the authorities on the use of digital platforms.
