Rector Yarılgaç participated in "Meeting of Mission Differentiation and Specialization in Global Competitive Environment" organized by YÖK (Council of Higher Education)

Rector Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç attended the "Mission Differentiation and Specialization in Global Competitiveness Conference" assessing the current situation of Turkey Higher Education System in the international arena organized by YÖK (Turkey Council of Higher Education).

For the first time, who will find their own equivalents or separate 24 area given to the evaluation of 10 universities international competitiveness of "Field Oriented Achievement Award" meetings HEC members which describes the rector of the university in Turkey and some universities abroad managers with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) officials attended.

The Chairman of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Porf. Dr. M.A Yekta Saraç , who delivered the opening speech of the meeting where the results of the work done with the QS officials to determine the fields in which universities can compete in the international are evaluated. He stated that they did not want to limit the specialization process focusing on the regional development to 5 universities and they will proceed to another phase about all the universities established after 2006 and that they had an interview with the Minister of Development. President Saraç voiced that every university rector is making efforts to rank higher in order, he said that this situation is closely related to some conditions. Saraç emphasized that this is a process, and "In this process, I thank all the university rectors for their efforts to make high-level research in order to contribute collectively to the growth of their students on the path to success."  The president of YÖK, Saraç, said that it is a separate source of happiness in seeing more successes in areas that are looked at locally and competing in universities. After the opening speech, the program went to presentations on the current status of the Turkish Higher Education System and its position in the global environment.

As a result of the studies carried out to identify the areas in which Higher Education Institutions can compete on an international level, outputs of 46 universities have been evaluated and 24 areas in which they compete with the universities in the worlds have been identified.

In this context, President Saraç presented "Field Focused Achievement Awards" to the rectors of 10 Turkish universities, which ranked among the top 400 universities in the world in terms of research and recognition, according to the study conducted by QS, which made university rankings according to various academic criteria.
