Grand National Assembly of Turkey which opened on April 23, 1920  for achieving our nation's independence is considered as one of the most important steps in the struggle for existence that began with its perseverance and determination. This date, when the national sovereignty was accepted, has become the symbol of our national sovereignty by announcing to the whole world that no power other than the national is higher.

April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day is important because the national sovereignty is always kept alive in the young memory, that peace and brotherhood are shared among the peoples of the world and that it serves the world peace. Our most valuable asset is the adult of tomorrow, they can catch the level of contemporary civilizations of hard work,lead our country to the level of advanced societies, so they have very important tasks in order to realize the ideal world, create a big and strong Turkey. Our task in this process is to educate our children as honest, hardworking, successful, respectful to democracy and human rights, loving their country and nation, who are open to new experiences, searching, inquiring, thinking, developing new technologies and expressing their thoughts properly.

I congratulate all our heroes who endeavored to win independence, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with these feelings and thoughts with my sincerest feelings. I also appreciate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of our children, who are the assurance of our nationality and our future.
