“R & D Technological Development and National Reconstruction “Conference at ODU

YİTAL A.Ş. General Manager, Dr. Atakan Peker gave a conference on “R & D Technological Development and National Reconstruction” at our university.
The Rector of Ordu University Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tevfik Noyan, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Tahsin Tonkaz, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Erbil, Dean of the Faculty of  Science and Letters Prof. Dr. Öznur Ergen Akçin, academic and administrative staff, students and guests attended to the program.
Starting his speech with the definition of science, Dr. Atakan Peker, emphasizing the importance of investing in science, stated that the adventure of knowledge consists of basic scientific research, applied research and technology. Dr. Peker informed the audience about the benefits of technology and how it was acquired, R & D methodologies and the roadmap of R & D.  Peker ,emphasizing the importance of patenting for technology production, explained “ Patents are a legally strong protection. The fact that the production, use and sale rights belong to the patent owner may prevent competitors from entering the market. Patents are also intellectual property, with an indication of technology capability.” Peker, stating that Turkey's last 30 years of scientific publications graph increased more than 8 times of world averageand  stressing that this growth is the third fastest in the world, shared  R & D of statistics of expenditures in Turkey and in the world. 

Peker, talking about R & D range and death valley, stated “Death valley is an important gap in the transfer of scientific production to technology production. Death Valley is also a growing cliff and a worldwide problem. Among the causes of the valley of death, methodology difference, human resources, investor / fund gap, eco-system / environment are included in the R & D stages.”
Peker who talked about semiconductor and microelectronics industry in his speech emphasized that these sectors constitute the infrastructure of information systems, the fastest growing sector in the world economy in which the foreign investor is the most interested and at the same time its being an unrivaled sector for high value-added exports.
Peker who stated that the cornerstones of technology acquisition are qualified manpower, functioning institutions and financial resources added that different types of manpower and different organizational structure are needed for each phase of transfer from science to technology and that this is not possible with one type of institution and human structure. Peker who gave advice on what can be done at the national level and personally explained” In transferring scientific output to technological developments, human capital and institutions need a wide range. It is necessary to make a real effort for the invention and innovation and to select the targets carefully.” Peker's presentation ended with the expression of necessary materials for professional success.
After the program, the Rector of our University, Prof.Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç,  presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Atakan Peker.
