55th Library Week was Celebrated in Our University
The 55th Library Week was celebrated within the framework of National Book Reading Event organized by Ordu University Library and Documentation Department.Vice Rector of Ordu University Prof.Dr. Fikri Balta, General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kenan Şahin, Head of Library and Documentation Department Ali Aygün, academic and administrative staff and many students attended the event.
Vice Rector of Ordu University Prof.Dr. Fikri Balta said:”Books are the intellectual sun of societies. They improve the intelligence and knowledge of human, increase the experiences, correct the errors, allow conscious people to emerge. The book, which is the only tool that creates the conscious person, is the unrelenting enemy of darkness and ignorance, symbolizing civilization and development. The most important representative of the development and modernity in the universities is the libraries. Ordu University offers easy access to universal information and an efficient working environment with the Emin Çetinceviz Central Library which has a modern, contemporary architecture and a wealth of resources. Our library, which cooperates with many databases in terms of scanning national and international literature, is an information center for both undergraduate and graduate students. I sincerely greet all of our external and internal partners and all those who have contributed to the library from the first day to now, and congratulate the 55th Library Week.”
While the books were being presented to attract the attention of the society to the book and the library, to raise awareness about the reading habit in the society and to increase the number of readers within the scope of the activities carried out, The readers read the books they selected from the books in the Emin Çetinceviz Central Library of our university, in 81 cities, concurrently reading books, The program ended with the offer of sweet and mini-theater performance of the theatre club students to the preschool students who came to visit Emin Çetinceviz Central Library from the environmental schools.
