Orange Flag Award from Higher Education Institution
Orange Flag Award was given to our university by Higher Education Institution in the Workshop on Obstacle-free Horizons in Higher Education in 2019 Year Enabled University Award Ceremony.
Our university was awarded the prize because of doing different activities in Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and Faculty of Dentistry in the Workshop on Obstacle-free Horizons in Higher Education in 2019 Year Enabled University Award Ceremony.
Our university has been launched by YÖK (Higher Education Institution) for the purpose of raising awareness of the access of people with disabilities to higher education institutions, educational opportunities and socio-cultural activities and spreading good practices.
Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, President of YÖK Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Sarac, President of the Strategy and Budget for the Presidency, Naci Ağbal, Executive Vice President of the Council of Higher Education of the Student Council and Member of the Executive Board of YÖK Prof. Dr. Zeliha Koçak Tufan, officials from YÖK Members, Family, Labor and Social Services, rectors and handicapped students in universities attended the award ceremony. 28 different universities were awarded with 126 flag awards, 26 universities with 92 orange flags, 6 universities with 14 green flags and 7 universities with 20 blue flag awards.
Ordu University’s Rector Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç said that universities play a very important role in the participation of disabled individuals in society. With the awareness of the importance of creating an accessible campus, Ordu University designs spaces for disabled students to socialize and learn. In this context, our Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and Dentistry made us very happy within the scope of the University of Accessible access under the category of orange flag, 'Barrier-Free Higher Education' with the mission of acting with students having disabilities in this academic and social sense of life.
