With the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the decision on the appointment of the Rector was published in the Official Gazette on 27 July 2019. In accordance with the 13th article of the Higher Education Law in 2547 and the 2nd, 3rd and 7th articles of the 3-year Presidential Decree, Prof.Dr. Dr. Ali Akdogan was appointed.

He was born on June 25, 1964 in Altınordu /Ordu. Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Ordu.

In 1987, Akdoğan graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Ondokuzmayis University and was appointed to Rize Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Faculty of Theology, as a Research Assistant in Sociology of Religion.

In 1994, he completed his master's degree with the thesis "Preparing the Hadith Course Program at the Imam-Hatip High School" at the Institute of Social Sciences of Ondokuzmayis University, "Preparing Religious Life in the Transition from Traditional Society to Modern Society" (1999). He received the title of associate professor in the field of Theology (Sociology of Religion, Knowledge and Culture) in 2005. In 2010, Akdoğan became the professor of the Department of Sociology of Religion in the Faculty of Theology at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan was appointed to Ordu University Rectorate according to the Presidential Decree.
