Rector Prof. Dr. Tarık Yarılgaç's 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk Youth and Sports Day Celebration Message

Forming the beginning of the liberation process and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the date of May 19th, 1919 started the construction of a bright future by remembering the importance and fidelity. It has inherited a heroic epic that cannot be forgotten to all the nations of the world, especially our nation. Within the framework of this heritage, the liberation light of the full independence torch revealed the shadow of all external and internal forces, while the imperialist forces, who thought that the Turkish nation would be defeated and would break away from this geography. It demolished their hopes.

After seeing that Istanbul was occupied by the enemy, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said that they would go as they came by trusting both our nation's courageous sine and his sharp ferasetine and believed in his heroic background. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who came to Samsun on 19 May 1919, initiated a Independence Struggle which was unprecedented in its strategic and determined management process.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk approved the celebrating of that date as 19 May Youth and Sports Day. He regarded Turkish Youth as the protector of the Republic of Turkey. With these beliefs and thoughts, May 19 celebrates the 100th anniversary of Comemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. I commemorate all our heroes and fathers, martyrs and veterans, especially the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades.
