This year, our lungs burned, we had the biggest forest fires in history, we had martyrs and wounded. In order to heal our wounds, under the auspices and leadership of our President, a total of 250 million saplings, 3 for each of our citizens, will meet with the soil by the end of this year. As part of the National Afforestation Day, 166 thousand saplings will meet the soil today in 37 different locations in Ordu. Today, we will have brought together 1,300 saplings with the soil hosted by our University. I would like to thank our esteemed Rector and the staff of our University for hosting.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan said, “Today, as part of the National Afforestation Day, at the sapling planting event held simultaneously across the country, 1,300 saplings will be planted at our 166,000 University in Ordu. The saplings we plant here will be a breath of fresh air for the next generations. As Ordu University, we are in cooperation and solidarity with our Governorate, Metropolitan Municipality, other public institutions and organizations and our stakeholders. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organization of this program, with the hope of having many good days in unity and solidarity.”

Ordu Governor Tuncay Sonel said, “Today, under the auspices of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saplings have started to be planted in every corner of our country in 81 provinces of our country. We spent a sad summer in the Mediterranean, in the Aegean, in various parts of our country. We were burned inside. All officials of our state and all our citizens made great efforts in forest fires. We hope that such disasters will not happen to us again. Today, we will plant trees such as sycamore, spruce, taflan and linden together with our young people at our Ordu University, which is an important asset of our Ordu. We would like to thank all of our Turkey, our organization and you who contributed to the National Afforestation Day.”

The National Afforestation Day Ceremony, which was held with the presence of President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was attended by live connection.

The National Afforestation Day Ceremony, which was held with the presence of President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the 15 July Democracy Museum Nation Forest in Beştepe, was attended by live connection.

In his speech at the ceremony, President of Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “Even if you know that the apocalypse will break tomorrow, we are the sons of a nation that has the motto of plant the sapling. It is our primary duty to transfer the green love we received from our fathers and ancestors to future generations. It is the friend of all living things that are tree-friendly and environmentally friendly. Mankind's inexhaustible attack on natural resources has now reached an unsustainable level. On the one hand, huge forest areas on fire, on the other hand drought and flood events are the warnings of nature. Every sapling we plant is a sign of the fight against climate change. After its struggles against injustice, Turkey has set its zero emission target by becoming a member of the Paris Climate Agreement. We have placed the green development revolution at the center of our 2053 vision. We will always be at the forefront of increasing our forest wealth. We are carrying out the biggest afforestation project in the history of the Republic with the goal of a greener Turkey.”

President pf Republic Erdoğan said: “This year, we fought 299 forest fires and 285 rural fires in 54 provinces. We waged a fierce struggle. Thank you everyone for the fight. I wish God's mercy to the forest personnel and citizens who lost their lives in the fires. I would also like to thank all countries for providing air and personnel support. We need to establish strong cooperation at the international level against forest fires. With the measures we have taken as Turkey, we have reduced the first response time to a fire from 40 minutes to 12 minutes. We are rapidly reforesting burned forest areas. Our goal is to complete the afforestation works of the areas damaged by the fire in 1 year. With the account of 3 saplings for each of our citizens, we will bring 252 million saplings together with the soil before the end of the year. A sapling campaign for each of our teachers was started by the Ministry of National Education. We will also participate with 1000 saplings. By establishing 81 nation forests in our 81 provinces, we will ensure that all our citizens benefit from them. I wish all the saplings planted to be a breath of fresh air for our country and the world.”
