Rector Akdoğan's Message "The Acceptance of the National Anthem and the Remembrance Day of Mehmet Akif Ersoy"

The Turkish National Anthem, which is a symbol of the declaration of independence and resurrection of the Turkish nation, was written by our patriotic poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy in the darkest periods of the War of Independence; It is an immortal work that tells the Turkish nation's history, heroism, spiritual values and love of homeland in the most meaningful way.
We are proud to have a poet who can integrate spirituality and literature so much and express them so well, while the passion for independence emanating from the Turkish National Anthem, which is the symbol of the struggle for re-existence by standing firmly against injustices, without compromising our nation's passion for free and independent life, continues to illuminate our path.
Our biggest duty today is to embrace the importance and value of the great struggle of the past, as described in our Turkish National Anthem, and to protect our homeland, which is the trust of our ancestors. With these feelings and thoughts, we remember with respect and gratitude all the heroes of the War of Independence, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and our National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy on the 100th anniversary of the acceptance of our Turkish National Anthem.
