Rector Akdoğan Gathered with Students at an Online Interview

Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan came together with the students at an online interview.

In the talk program held on Oduzem Youtube channel, Rector Akdoğan talked about the work carried out during the pandemic process by answering the questions of students on many issues such as distance education, campus life, social and cultural activities, new departments and programs to be opened. The moderator of the program was Distance Education Center Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Kerem Erzurumlu.

Stating that Ordu University continues its educational activities uninterruptedly with its academic and physical development, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan continued, “Our university is a large family with 821 academic and 350 administrative staff, 321 permanent workers, 10 contracted staff and around 20 thousand students. As Ordu University, our aim is to raise young generations who love their homeland, nation and flag, who are loyal to their national and moral values, who will raise our country to the level of modern civilization, equipped and take science as a guide. As individuals who are aware of these responsibilities, they should educate themselves in the best way both in their field of education and in other areas of life. The strength of a country is directly proportional to that country's qualified and trained manpower. In this direction, we wish to raise our young people who are confident, open to learning and self-improvement, who are researching and questioning, who can closely follow the developments in the world with the aim of realizing their ideals, and who have entrepreneurial and original thinking.”

Rector Akdoğan, mentioning the works carried out before and during the pandemic, continued, “By using the facilities provided by our state, we make every effort to ensure that our students benefit from the educational opportunities in the best way possible. In this context, we have activated student canteens in all our education units since the day we took office. During the pandemic process, we doubled the capacity of our student cafeteria, and we are continuing our efforts to enlarge the central canteen. Before the pandemic, we organized many activities where our students had the opportunity to develop themselves socially and culturally as well as their academic education. During the epidemic process, we continue our activities online, I would also like to state that we have a suitable infrastructure for our student clubs to carry out their activities in this environment and that we will provide the support we can.”

Rector Akdoğan stated that the studies are continuing rapidly for the Tourism Faculty to start educational activities, and he mentioned that the School of Physical Education and Sports will be transformed into a faculty, the foundation of the Faculty of Theology will be laid this year, and the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering and the Department of Oral and Dental Technician are planned to be opened.

Rector Akdoğan, who answered students' questions about the distance education process, “In order to minimize the effects of the pandemic process we are experiencing on the education life of our students, we have made every effort and effort as higher education institutions and we continue to do so. Although there is no obligation to attend in the distance education process, I recommend that our students participate on time as much as possible. Like our students, we wholeheartedly wish face-to-face training to begin in September. Of course, this issue is directly related to the vaccination status and the course of the epidemic. I hope that the pandemic process will end as soon as possible and that we will meet our esteemed students on healthy days.”
