Two Theatre Plays"Refugee" and "Shakespeare Parodies" from Ordu University Theatre Department on World Theatre Day
"Refugee" and "Shakespeare Parody with Texts" were staged by the Theatre Department in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts of our University on March 27, 2018 on the International Theatre Day.
The dean of Music and Performing Arts Faculty Professor Sabri Yener, our academic and administrative staff, students and invitations attended. The event began with the reading of the World Theater Day Declaration by Simon McBurney.
"Refugee" theatre play was written and directed by lecturer Dr. V. Yasin AKYÜZ who is the director of Thetare Department. The students from Thaetre Department played it on the stage in Ordu University. It was related to the struggle of refugee people and their oppression. Shakespeare's parody of "Shakespeare with Texts", which is a cult-like and re-edited dramaturgical text of the most well-known three tragedia texts all over the world, was carried to the scene, preserving the event sequences and heroes of the plays. The reorganization of the main texts of the play was done by Theater Department lecturer Dr. Züleyha Eşigül and it was directed by lecturer Erdal Karakurt.
After the play, Dean of Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. Sabri Yener said that "Our Faculty is aiming to educate artists, educators and academicians who are accepted nationally and internationally in the fields of Music and Performing Arts; aims to become a powerful institution that develops and models views of the art of our country and its identity with educational activities, researches and artistic activities, starting from the close circle, producing realistic, contemporary and practical solutions to the problems of our country and the world. I congratulate the lecturers and the dear students of the Department of Theatre who have set out on this mission and wish the continuation of their successes and celebrate the World Theater Day. "
