EU Project of Fatsa Faculty of Marine Sciences to Contribute to International Development Accepted

Our University Fatsa Faculty of Marine Sciences continues to contribute to regional, national and international development in the fields of maritime and marine sciences with the scientific studies carried out within its body. In this context, the project named "Black Sea SIERRA", prepared in cooperation with faculty members, was entitled to receive European Union support.

Prepared in response to the call titled EMFAF-2023-PIA-FLAGSHIP under the European Union Maritime, Fisheries and Fisheries Fund (EMFAF), the project covers the authorities' capacity to respond to existing or emerging marine pollution; will be prepared by responding in an international and coordinated manner to pollution resulting from armed conflicts.

It was stated that the results of the project on the prevention of coastal area pollution in the western, northern and southern regions of the Black Sea will guide the relevant authorities and decision makers to take the necessary steps. The project, which will be carried out for 3 years and with a total budget of 750 thousand Euros, was prepared under the coordination of Dr. Refik Özyurt with the collaboration of Fatsa Faculty of Marine Sciences Faculty Members Prof. Dr. Ozkan Ugurlu, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydin, Prof. Dr. Evren Tunca and Research Assistant Dr. Seda Kontaş Yalçınkaya.

The project, which will be conducted by Romania The National Institute for Research and Development in Environmental Protection, will be carried out in partnership with Bulgaria, Italy, Ukraine participating organizations and our University's Fatsa Faculty of Marine Sciences
