A commemoration program was held at our university for the "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day".

The program held at the Ceren Özdemir Conference Hall of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Niyazi Taşcı, Faculty Deans, Deputy General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Sami Güler, academic and administrative staff and guests attended.

Making the opening speech of the program, which started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a cine-vision screening, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan stated, “Six years ago, our country faced a treacherous coup attempt, which was eliminated in a short time with the will of our nation and the courage and foresight of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Our nation showed the fact that no evil focus could touch its independence on the night of July 15 with the same determination as it did in Malazgirt, Çanakkale and the War of Independence. The democracy watch that took place on the night of July 15 and afterwards is a historical challenge to those who want to plunge our country into darkness. The Republic of Turkey will continue to exist as a strong, dynamic country that is advancing on the path of science and has a voice in the world. I have full faith that we will overcome the obstacles that stand in our way on this path with a sense of national unity and solidarity. As higher education institutions, one of our most important duties is to continue to raise stronger young generations who are loyal to their homeland, flag, national and spiritual values in the light of reason, science, morality and conscience. With these feelings and thoughts, on the sixth anniversary of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, we commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our democracy, homeland, independence, national unity and integrity with mercy and gratitude, and thank you to our veterans.

In the continuation of the program, a conference on “For the Love of July 15” was held by Ömer Erden. Assoc. Prof. of the History Department. Program, ended with the presentation of thanks of Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan to Assoc. Prof. Ömer Erden.
