Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer Visited Our University

During the visit, Ordu Governor Tuncay Sonel, AK Party Ordu Deputy Metin Gündoğdu, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Celal Tezcan, our University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, AK Party Provincial Head of Ordu Selman Altaş, our University Delegation and representatives of public institutions and organizations took part.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan gave information to the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer about the academic and physical development of our University, as well as the studies and projects carried out. Expressing his satisfaction with his visit to our university, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated, “There are things we need to do at the higher education stage as well as what we will do as the Ministry of National Education to strengthen education in Ordu. We had the opportunity to get detailed information from our Rector, I thank him. As the Ministry of National Education, we will give all kinds of support in the faculties that are missing or in the points that will make new openings. There are three issues that we discussed with our Rector.
One of them is the Faculty of Engineering, which is the biggest deficiency here. Indeed, when the expansions of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the city are connected with the economic development of the sector, when new expansions such as Organized Industrial Zone and Free Zone are made, the faculty we will need the most will be the Faculty of Engineering. Of course, the establishment of the University Technopark as a continuation of it will be very valuable in terms of both the strength of the university in the context of R&D innovation and the construction of much stronger consultation mechanisms of the sector representatives of the city.

In addition, there is a great need for both the Faculty of Engineering and the Technopark to establish the research ecosystem. I hope I will be a follower too. Before I came, I personally met with our Minister of Higher Education. There is no problem with Technopark, they will complete the final processes about it, and I will provide support for its establishment. And we will also have an initiative related to the Vocational School of Health Sciences. Hopefully, we will do our best to bring these 2 education units and 1 research unit to our University as soon as possible and to put our University among the strongest universities of the region in a much stronger way. Hopefully, we will support our University with new initiatives. I would like to thank our Rector for his contributions.”

The visit ended after Rector Akdoğan presented a gift to Mahmut Özer, the Minister of National Education.
