“Social Sciences Graduate Student Symposium” Was Held at Our University

The opening program of the symposium was held at Ceren Özdemir Conference Hall and Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Celal Tezcan, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, Faculty Deans, academic and administrative staff, students and guests attended.

Before the opening program, a music concert was held by the faculty members and students of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. Making the opening speech of the program, Symposium Organizing Committee Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevziye Eker said, “This program, which has been made so that our students can exhibit their work and gain experience in the academic field, is very exciting because it is the first. I would like to state that this study is only the beginning for a more comprehensive symposium that we plan to hold in the coming years. We are very happy with the interest and participation of our students and lecturers in the symposium program.”

Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kenan Şahin said, “We took 4 elements as a basis while organizing this symposium. One of them was how we could contribute to the education of our students; Secondly, we wanted to give our students the opportunity to do their research and share it with the university community, we thought that students would improve their education life with the feedback and criticisms they received and thanks to these criticisms, and most importantly, we wanted their self-confidence to increase. In the morning sessions, I saw how self-confident and promising our students were. I would like to thank our Rector for encouraging us in this regard.”

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan said, “There are three areas of life; the first is health, the second is science and technology, and the third is social sciences. Our university also strives to reveal its potential in these three areas in the best possible way. As Ordu University, we continue to be a student-oriented university. Universities are a very important area where people grow up. Therefore, it is extremely important for our dear young people to equip themselves with knowledge and integrate theory and practice, both for us, our society and humanity. At this point, the University environment provides a great opportunity for our students. One of the most important duties that falls on us is to touch our 17 thousand students at our University and to realize the potential of each of them. With these thoughts, especially the Director of the Institute of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. I would like to thank the whole symposium team, especially Mehmet Kenan Şahin, and everyone who contributed.”

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Celal Tezcan, in his speech, stated that universities are institutions that think, produce and compete in their own lane and that social sciences is an important field at this point, and thanked those who contributed to the organization of the symposium.

The symposium was held in 8 sessions with the presentations made by the participants in the relevant fields of social sciences.
