On the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the adoption of the National Anthem at our university, the "Adoption of the National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy" program was held by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature and the Turkology Club.

The program held in the conference hall of the Morphology building was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Niyazi Taşcı, Faculty Deans, academic and administrative staff, students and guests attended.

 In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan said, "I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades in arms and our ancestors who stood by and supported them with mercy and gratitude. In the historical process, in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, the Western powers tried to disperse, destroy and seize the Ottoman Empire. In this process, figures such as Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades in arms and Akif have put forth their existence with their whole selves, with their souls, with their heads, with love, so that this country does not perish, this nation survives, so that it can live together with its geography and people. What makes a nation a nation is to read the day correctly with the values ??it takes from its past and to set a goal for the future. Nations that continued on their way with the basic principles of their past survived for a long time. There is a need for figures like Akif who will keep nations dynamic and instill moral, moral and religious values ??in them in every period. In this context, I commemorate all our past with mercy and gratitude, especially Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who served our nation in our past." 

In the continuation of the program, while the audience was informed about Mehmet Akif Ersoy's life, selected poems of Akif were sung by the students of the department.

The program ended with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to those who contributed.
