With the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the decision numbered 2023/350 on the appointment of Rectors was published in the Official Gazette dated 1 August 2023. In accordance with the 13th article of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the 2nd, 3rd and 7th articles of the Presidential Decree No. 3, Prof. Dr. Orhan Baş was appointed to the Ordu University Rectorate.
Who is Orhan Baş?
Orhan Baş, originally from Ordu Persembe, was born in Samsun Terme in 1973. He completed his primary and secondary school in Terme and high school in Ordu Ünye. After graduating from Istanbul University in 1998, he completed his doctorate in Selcuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy in 2004.
He worked as Assistant Professor in Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy between 2005-2008 and at Recep Tayyip Erdogan University Faculty of Medicine between 2008-2012. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2010 and  started working at Ordu University Faculty of Medicine in 2012. He was appointed as Professor in 2015. In 2021, he was appointed as a Professor at Samsun University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy. 
77 articles have been published in international journals within the scope of SCI index, and the H index is 33 and the number of citations is 2840. He has 29 articles in national journals, 65 domestic and 31 international poster presentations, and 7 book chapters.
He supervised 8 master's and 1 doctoral thesis in his field. He has participated in many national and international congresses and symposiums. He received three posters, two publications, and seven TÜBİTAK Scientific Incentive Awards.
Fluent in English, Prof. Dr. Orhan Baş is married and has two children.
