The "3rd Young Turcologists Workshop", which includes academic studies in the fields of Turkish language, Turkish literature, Turkish folklore and Turkish history, was held at our University.

The workshop program held at Ceren Özdemir Conference Hall and Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, Mayor of Altınordu Aşkın Tören, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Selahattin Maden, academic and administrative staff, students and guests attended.

Making the opening speech of the program, Turkology Club academic advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yıldız talked about the activities of the Turkology Club and the importance of the workshop. In his speech, Altınordu Mayor Aşkın Tören said, “It is of vital importance to protect our Turkish language with an understanding that embraces all the richness of our language. We must continue to pay attention to the use of our Turkish language in order to nourish, protect and develop our language, which is a living being. This workshop, in which Turkish and our language are at the center, is very meaningful for me, and for our city to fulfill such a meaningful and comprehensive historical responsibility as a history maker in terms of the identity of a third generation university for our city. I would like to thank Rector of Ordu University, Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan and wish our meeting to bring abundance in the scientific sense.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan said, “Language is the treasure that unites, brings together and forms the identity of a nation. Language is a spiritual dynamic. When a society loses its spiritual dynamics, the fate of that society is uncertain. I believe that protecting our language means protecting that heritage we have inherited from our past, protecting our present and our future in terms of strengthening the future of this nation, this society, this state. With these thoughts in mind, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the realization of the workshop and wish our workshop to be beneficial.”

After the opening speeches, the first session of the workshop was held. The workshop, which will last for two days, will be held in 22 sessions with the participation of students studying at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral stages and carrying out academic studies.
