Interuniversity Muaythai Türkiye Championship Held at ODU

Interuniversity Muaythai Türkiye Championship was hosted by our University.

The opening ceremony of the championship held in the sports hall of the Faculty of Sports Sciences was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdogan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tahsin Tonkaz, Faculty Deans, Secretary General of Muaythai Federation Korkmaz Atalay, Representative of Turkish Sports Federation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karadağ, academic and administrative staff and guests attended.

Representative of Turkish Sports Federation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karadağ, in his opening speech, said, “ I would like to thank The Rector of Ordu University, Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, the Health, Culture and Sports Department and the technical team, and hope that the competitions will be held within the framework of fair play.” 

Muaythai Federation Secretary General Korkmaz Atalay said, “The Muaythai Federation is a federation whose record in university championships cannot be equaled and has broken records with 88 universities in its organizations. We have a large organization mass with its trainers, referees, athletes and management. I would like to thank Ordu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan, our participating universities, our athletes and our coaches.” 

Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Akdoğan said, “First of all, I would like to state that we are extremely happy that the Inter-University Muaythai Turkey Championship is being held at our University. In our country, very important activities are carried out in the field of sports as well as in health, science and technical fields. In universities, our youth, while continuing their education and training activities, also spare time for sports activities. Therefore, such sports activities are very important for our young people's biological, physical and psychological states and for them to live their youth to the fullest. In this context, I would like to thank the participating universities, especially the Muaythai Federation, and everyone who contributed to the organization. I wish success to all our athletes who will compete in the competitions with the hope that sports will increase the love, respect and conversation between us.” 

An award ceremony was held for the winners of the Muaythai Championship, which continued for two days and 42 athletes from 17 universities competed.
